Also referred to as MOSFET Gate Drivers or Gate Drive Optocouplers, SSO Photo-Voltaic MOSFET Drivers are an optically isolated means of driving discrete MOSFETs. Unlike conventional MOSFET Drivers, Photo-Voltaic MOSFET Drivers require no complex and costly external power supply circuitry to operate.

SSO Photo-Voltaic MOSFET Drivers operate by application of a low power signal from the primary side of the isolation barrier, which turns on an input LED optically coupled to SSO’s proprietary IC. This IC provides an output voltage used to drive the gate of a discrete MOSFET. The integrated rapid discharge circuit of the IC guarantees fast turn-off times.
