SOLID STATE OPTRONICS INTRODUCES NEW MINIATURE RELAY
SAN JOSE, Calif., January 19, 1999 ... Solid State Optronics, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of miniature solid state relays, today introduced the M211 relay as the newest addition to its product line.
The M211 is a solid state relay in an ultra-miniature 4-pin SOP package. Taking advantage of a monolithic chip design, this is the first relay ever to offer a current- interrupt function and long-term reliability and performance in a 4-pin SOP package. The M211 consists of a Gallium Arsenide, infrared light-emitting diode optically- coupled to an integrated driver/ output circuit. The MOSFET-based output allows AC/DC switching capabilities of up to 400V and 100mA.
The new relay's small size makes it ideal for mobile telecommunication switching in laptop, notebook, and pocket-sized modems where saving board space and package volume is critical. The inherent current-interrupt function protects downstream circuitry from transient current spikes and allows for use in a wide range of telecom applications where regulatory requirements demand such protection. Other applications that can benefit from the M211's features include: telecom switching (tip/ring circuits, hookswitch, dial pulsing, ground start, and ringer injection), test and measurement equipment, automated industrial equipment, switching systems, motor control, and medical electronics.
As with all Solid State Optronics' products, the M211 is designed and engineered under the strictest quality guidelines. All components and finished goods undergo rigorous reliability testing and 100% electrical testing. All SSO products are manufactured in accordance with ISO 9000 quality standards.
Pricing and Availability The M211 will be shipping in this quarter, and prices begin at $0.72 each at the 10,000-piece volume. Typical lead-time is 4 weeks. Engineering samples of the M211 can be obtained by contacting SSO Sales at (888) 377-4776, or at sales@ssousa.com.
In addition to the M211, SSO offers a wide range of MOSFET-based AC/DC relays, SCR- based AC relays and specialty products for numerous telecommunication, instrumentation, and industrial control applications.
